Spin Me A Story Weave Me A Tale

CNCH 2011 in Sutter Creek

“He ketched a frog one day and took him home and said he cal’lated to educate him; and so he never done nothing for three months but set in his back yard and learn that frog to jump. And you bet he did learn him, too.”

Mark Twain – “Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County”

The CNCH 2011 Scholarship Fundraiser was inspired by Mark Twain’s short story. We invite all members of CNCH to participate in this unique event. The Lilypad Gallery will open with a show of “Cakewalk Pollywogs,” a collection of your fancy froggies. These art frogs can be made using any technique, any fiber. More athletically inclined frogs are encouraged to compete in our second category: “Larry the Leaper.” Vaulting, “Leaper,” contestants need to be 3 ounces in weight and have a tennis ball sized body. These top gallants will be launched by trebuchet into a “frog pond.” For those of you who cannot attend the event, volunteer handlers will be available to help launch your frogs!

Your donated fiber frogs will make this truly an evening to remember!  Our guest for the evening, Mark Twain, said that ours is “the most unique and entertaining invitation” he has had the honor of receiving in 23 years of portraying Mark Twain. Check out his website www.ghostoftwain.com

You may vote for your favorites and enter to win them with tickets purchased at the conference. Frogs with the most ticket “votes” will win the Golden Kermie Award.

Please mail your frogs to Janice Johnson, 25000 Little John Lane, Pioneer, CA 95666 by April 8, 2011.

Some workshops have a few spaces available.  Check the workshops listing for openings and closures. Check back often as there have been 2 cancellations, one of which resulted in an opening in Sara Lamb’s class.
