September 20, 2010: Kate Colwell will show and tell about her visit to Guatemala with Mayan Hands, a fair trade organization promoting economic independence for Mayan weavers.

September 26, 2010: Workshop with Nancy Roberts. Nancy uses machine knitted silk as a tool for multicolor dyeing, then unravels the yarn for weaving. There are still space in the workshop. contact liliarosenheimer at sbcglobal.net

October 18, 2010: Laotian weaver Dalunny Phousonny will demonstrate her traditioanl Laotian loom and show samples of her weaving.

FIBER AND DYE EXHIBIT AT U.C. BOTANICAL GARDEN

Golden Gate Weavers’ Guild is doing a weaving demonstration in connection with the above exhibit. There will be two classes Saturday April 3 from 1- 2 and from 2:30 – 3:30.

March 22, Fieldtrip to UC Botanical Garden.

Golden Gate Weavers’ Guild is having a fieldtrip to U.C. Botanical Garden March 22 at 10 am. We will be given a docent-led tour of the garden and then go to view the Fiber and Dye Exhibit at the Garden.

We welcome you to our meetings, the third Monday of the month at North Berkeley Senior Center, 1901 Hearst St. Berkeley from 9:30 – noon.

Here are the programs we have scheduled so far. Do come join us to learn and to share projects and information.

We also meet as a Study Group second Saturday of the month from 9:30-noon at Emily Brown’s house, 1630 Arch St. Berkeley. Topics are chosen by the group. For October it is Kumihimo,November: Wheat-weaving.

Oct. 19, 2009: Emily and Val show and tell about their trips to Oaxaca.

Nov. 16 2009: Cindy Lair from Schacht will talk about 40 years of making tools for the craft
