Convergence Reno 2018 Update – AND MORE!

Convergence Reno 2018 dates are July 5th thru July 12th, 2018 @ Peppermill Hotel Resort Casino.  As of early January, registration has surpassed 2014 and 2016.  HGA recently reserved a 3rd and final block of rooms so some conference rate rooms may still be available.  July is a busy time of year in the Reno/Tahoe area.  Don’t hesitate to reserve a room as soon as you can. Also, notable, the Peppermill isn’t assessing charges to your card until the event.  Information about the Peppermill and the reservation link for conference rates is – http://www.weavespindye.org/hotel-information-for-convergence-2018

Goody Bags:  NEWS FLASH…with registration breaking record numbers, far exceeding HGA’s expectations, we are NOW looking to complete 900 Goody Bags vs. our original estimate of 600-700!  While we are grateful that 10 guilds have already committed to providing contributions for Convergence goody bags, to fulfill our goal, we need the support of all member guilds.  Once again, the focus is on items that highlight your guild and the CNCH region.  Some items include handwoven sachets, tassels featuring the Convergence colors, laminated sett chart cards, handwoven decorated notecards, lip balm, packets of California grown almonds and sets of playing cards.  Coordinating this herculean task is Rae Stuart of the Reno Fiber Guild.  Contact Rae at stuart1940@sbcglobal.net   For details you can find more information on the CNCH.org website under the Convergence heading.

Sheep to Shawl plans are growing.  Due to the CNCH Liaison wishes, there are now space for 10 teams and 7 teams have yet to register!  Furthermore, thanks to Suzie Liles of the Eugene Textile Center in Oregon, she’s agreed to judge the competition!  Let’s go teams! We need more teams for this international opportunity to highlight our spirit and talents.   See Silverado Guild member Barbara Stafford’s article in this issue for more information about Sheep to Shawl competitions and tips on having a successful team.  Pam Crause kaelyn95667@yahoo.com

Convergence equipment needs are being coordinated by Barbara Cabrol of the Sacramento Spinners’ and Weavers’ Guild.  hgaequip18@gmail.com  Note this is a corrected address to contact her if you have a loom available to rent to a Convergence registrant.  See Barbara’s informational article in the Winter 2017 CNCHnet newsletter – which you can find at this link https://www.cnch.org/cnchnet/winter-2017/rentals/ . Based on December registration numbers, more than 30 looms are needed; we need your support and looms!

Convergence Shuttle Race & Decorative Shuttle Competition:  Ladies and gentlemen, in addition to the many educational opportunities, don’t forget about the Saturday evening shuttle fun! I know many of you have shuttles, both racing and decorative, from CNCH 2013 – Textile Games.  Well…here’s a perfect opportunity to take your shuttles out of their “garage”, dust ‘em off, check tire pressure, oil and tune ‘em up and putting ‘em back into racing condition or just looking FAST while “sitting pretty”.  Like me, Suzanne, if you don’t already have a competing shuttle, it’s time to start building one as I plan to give Jennifer a run for her money this July as she smoked the competition in 2013!  Come on and join the fun; we’ve got this competition!   Here is the HGA link for all details and specifications.  See you at the track… Zoom Zoom!   http://www.weavespindye.org/shuttle-race-7

Here is the “MORE!” noted in the title above:  The CNCH Advisory Council is coordinating CNCH 2019.  It will be a retreat style conference.  Negotiations are underway for an all-inclusive location in the North Bay Area.  Potential instructors are being contacted.  Turn those calendar pages to June 20-23, 2019 to reserve these dates.
