Immerse Yourself in Fiber: CNCH 2015 at Asilomar

“Rustic Elegance” is how Asilomar describes itself these days, and after millions of dollars in upgrades, it’s an apt description of the conference grounds on the beautiful Monterey Bay.
Those improvements to the rooms and grounds are just some of the reasons that Asilomar is the perfect place to hold our CNCH gathering, April 9-12, 2015.

There are all-new beds and carpets in the living spaces, and easy-to-maneuver, well-lit pathways throughout the grounds. Plus there’s a new cafe providing refreshments to enjoy on the wide deck or along the nature trail.
Of course, some of the timeless  attractions for fiber artists  remain the same. To name a few: the majestic natural surroundings, including Asilomar Beach and the colorful micro-environments from shore front dunes to deep woodlands, the largest collection in one place of famed architect Julia Morgan whose style is so akin to the weaver’s cloth and the serene ambiance pervading the conference grounds, creating a perfect setting for bouncing ideas off of each other or quietly mulling over fresh concepts.

The title, “Immerse Yourself in Fiber” was chosen to reflect all this, and to define the format of the conference: in-depth, 3-day workshops, for all levels of weavers, spinners, dyers and basket makers, led by the top instructors in each field.  We asked ourselves, who would be the very best teachers we could invite to our conference? When we had our answers, we chased them down and signed them up!

We also decided on a laid-back approach to this off-year gathering, supported by the fact that Asilomar provides delicious meals in its room package. Instead of a banquet, we’ve reserved the Bonfire Pit for an outdoor, after-dinner party.  Our show & tell and scholarship fundraiser events will be informal affairs. We have “living room” and large outside deck venues for socializing.  Even in April, a roaring fire at the Hearst Social Hall will be welcome for after-hours gettogethers.

So set aside April 9-12, 2015, and get ready to immerse yourself in learning, relaxing, and absorbing all that Asilomar has to offer.
