The Carmel Crafts Guild is an association for the development and promotion of crafts, with a focus on the fiber arts. We are part of a greater network of handweaving/spinning guilds, participating in the regional and national conference. We:

  • sponsor programs, create public displays
  • maintain a topical library
  • publish an informative newsletter
  • serve as contact resource for weaving, spinning, and basket-making artist location and skills development

Fiber Artisans is a San Jose Guild composed of weavers with interests in spinning, dyeing, knitting, basketry, crocheting and other fiber arts. We are currently a nomadic group, meeting at members' homes, while we look for a new permanent venue. The Glenna Harris Weavers Guild is comprised of about 25 members from Santa Clara County who are interested in all fiber related arts. Every meeting includes show and tell to see what the members are working on, or what they have recently completed. To inspire future weavers we are involved with several outreach programs. We have several hands-on weaving programs designed especially for public and private schools. We demonstrate at the Santa Clara County Fair, Youth Science Wildlife days in Alum Rock Park, and other special events in the valley. Below is a list of special events and the months that they usually occur.

  • MaySanta Clara County Fair—booth demonstrations and exhibits, sheep to shawl contest, fine spinning contest, and speed spinning contest.
  • June or July—Instead of our usual meeting we have a picnic and outdoor program.
  • September or OctoberYouth Science Wildlife Days at Alum Rock Park -- demonstration of weaving, spinning, and dying.
  • December —Potluck. Our short meeting starts at 11 A.M. with the potluck following. Sometimes it is at a member's home, and sometimes at our regular meeting place.

Meetings are usually 10:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. on the 2nd Monday of each month. The meeting place is the Willow Glen Senior Center, 2175 Lincoln Ave., San Jose.
