Since 1996, Laverne Waddington as been both a student and a teacher of weaving techniques for a variety of simple looms used in Bolivia,
Peru, Chile, Ecuador and Guatemala. Her
back strap weaving repertoire now reaches far beyond Latin America to Vietnam and Bhutan. She shares her skills and experiences with
visitors to Bolivia and now makes contact with a world-wide audience through tutorials and travel tales in her blog: backstrapweaving.wordpress.com. She also provides support to weavers through forums such as Ravelry.com and teaches and speaks at guilds and textile conferences around the world.
