Member guilds of CNCH are handweaving and spinning guilds in communities throughout Northern California and Northern Nevada. These groups are the local organizations where our individual members meet and enjoy the benefits of guild participation and being a part of CNCH.

Black Sheep Handweavers is a guild of approximately 100 members formed to promote the exchange of ideas and knowledge in textile arts and to encourage efforts and activities in these areas. Our meetings generally include members sharing their projects (“show-and-tell”) and an outside speaker. We sponsor 2-3 workshops each year, and we have several ongoing groups, including the Monday Night Spinners, the monthly Saturday Beginning Weavers group, and an Advanced Weaving Structure study group. We encourage visitors to attend and are always happy to welcome new members!

We organized 30 years ago by inviting everyone we knew who had a fiber interest, to come talk about forming a guild (practically everyone who joined is now a weaver and/or spinner). Our close friendships have been strengthened by our desire to learn and share and of our support of each one through loss, as well as, during happy times.

Mendocino Coast Handweavers Guild is an informal group open to anyone interested in handweaving and fiber arts. We meet regularly to encourage pursuit of our craft, renew inspiration, exchange ideas, and provide educational and networking opportunities within the textile arts. We sponsor expert presentations on related topics; offer information about textile educational opportunities and shows; issue an informative member newsletter; and offer scholarship opportunities for Guild members to attend classes or workshops to advance their skills and explore new textile interests.
