Homage to Laura Carpender

Homage to Laura Carpender

Stephenie Gaustad

Avid, spinner, weaver and dyer, Laura Carpender was a long-time member of “Del Oro Spinners and Weavers Guild” and founding member of Sutter Creek Gallery. Her love of music brought her out to “dance” in the streets of Amador City, at the Ione Hotel, and at “Renegade” in Mokelumne Hill. Generous with her time, and ever willing to share her knowledge, Laura gathered people into her dancing, spinning web of friends. Laura, long-time past resident of Amador County, recently passed in New Braunfels, Texas, in the company of her two daughters, Michelle and Sherry, and her grandchildren.
