2019 Lambtown Festival

Lambtown Festival 2019 Grows Flock Under New Leadership

[DIXON, CA, August 20, 2019] The 33rd annual Lambtown Festival (October 4-6) in Dixon, CA, promises to be better than ever with an exciting growth energy spurred on by a new leadership team, headed by President, Roy Clemes of Clemes & Clemes: “…we’re trying to get this to be the Rhinebeck of the West, and with the new team we definitely think it’s possible.”

Building on an already fun event, this year’s festival highlights include: fiber arts workshop teachers (Abby Franquemont, Stephenie Gaustad, Gwen Powell, and more); fiber competitions (enter finished works or be part of a sheep-to-shawl team), sheep events (breeds, working dogs, shearing); and now convenient on-site tent/RV camping (sign up online). Stay the whole weekend to enjoy this family-friendly fiber event.

As part of its new, growth mind-set, Lambtown is looking forward to connecting to the larger fiber arts community of California (and beyond!) by building relationships with textile guilds (volunteering, info tables, promotions, events); pulling in exciting new teachers (help spread the word, submit recommendations), and embracing the wider fiber arts community. This year, for the first time, Bay Area yarn stores (The Black Squirrel and Royal Bee Yarn Company) are gathering excitement for Lambtown (and all things fiber) by organizing a party bus that will make two stops (SF and Oakland) to pick up before heading up to Lambtown for all-day fiber fun. To further promote the fun fiber spirit at Lambtown Festival 2019, knit/crochet designer, Ksenia (Life is Cozy) has offered a free crochet shawl pattern and KAL/CAL to give our West Coast event its own fiber festival garment – our version of the Rhinebeck sweater if you will.

As always, these events wouldn’t be possible without volunteers. Lambtown is completely volunteer run and now has easy online volunteer registration! Please help us make Lambtown become the best of the West by volunteering today. Your guilds help make the difference. Let’s make fiber even more fun!
The mission of Lambtown Festival is to celebrate all things sheep, lamb, and wool. We aim to promote these noble ruminants, from fleece to food, fiber to fabric, and farm to festival, while providing education and enjoyment for all.
