Next Year-Branch out with Fibers

On the way home from CNCH 2013 at Lake Tahoe, we talked about the wonderful programs, teachers, setting, and the FUN the conference provided.  It was so good to see old friends and make new ones, and to realize what a good organization CNCH is for sharing talent and new ideas.

We’re proud to say that CNCH 2014 will be back at the Oakland Convention Center, offering great opportunities to learn new techniques as well as enjoy the company of our vibrant fiber arts community.

Our line-up of teachers will come from near and far and we hope there will be something offered so that everyone will have an opportunity branch out into a new-to-you fiber experience.  We’re especially proud to have internationally known Robyn Spady as our keynoter.  She will also teach a class she has designed just for CNCH 2014.

Also new for 2014, is your opportunity to learn a technique or skill in depth.   We are offering, in addition to 3, 6, and 9-hour classes, three classes that will continue through the whole conference.  These 12-hour classes are designed to give you a solid knowledge base as well as practice.

Sara Lamb will take you through the steps of weaving a “contemporary” cut pile rug.   She describes the ancient art of knotted pile as “the ultimate in luxurious” weaving.  You will design and weave a small bag, including card-weaving the handle.

Linda Hartshorn offers the share “the secrets of shadow weave”.  You will learn about color and weave effects, color combinations, and how to read a shadow weave draft.  The class will create samples in a round-robin style.

Robyn Spady has developed a class especially for us – Exploring Weave Structure on a Single Warp.  You will explore twill, lace, overshot, corduroy, deflected weft, and double-faced fabrics.

Soon you’ll be able to go to  CNCH’s website and click on the  CNCH 2014 to download the catalogue, check out our Facebook page at 2014CNCH  and follow our upcoming blogs on the CNCH website.   These are all ways to keep you in the loop.
