CNCHnet Journal: The Mid-Autumn Issue

Autumn is definitely in the air — crystal fresh mornings and crisp evenings greet me along with wild turkeys and a bobcat in the meadow.  CNCH’s big announcement is the upcoming conference in April:

CNCH 2024 APRIL 25-28, 2024, Mary Ann Parker

One conference ends, and another begins. The Area 5 guilds are hosting the 71st CNCH 2024
conference. The event will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Sonoma Wine Country,
in Rohnert Park, CA, April 25-28, 2024. Double Tree Hotel Reservations.

Our conference will be full of great teachers, events, and activities throughout the weekend. If
you can come a day early or stay a little longer in the area, enjoy the relaxing lifestyle of
Sonoma County, just 30 miles north of San Francisco. https://www.sonomacounty.com/

Our conference theme this year is Enduring Fiber Roots, inspired by our area’s majestic
Redwood trees. We chose the Redwood tree to honor the ancient and magnificent symbol of
our state, whose roots support us. We all share those enduring fiber roots, that moment that
inspired us to start and the desire to keep creating.

CNCH 2024 is a retreat style conference. We will have 10, 2 ½ day workshops held on April 26-
28, 2024. And we have a great line up of very talented teachers.

NEW THIS YEAR – we will also have four 2-hour virtual seminars for the 1st time. CNCH is
partnering with Lessonface, a live, online Zoom platform. CNCH 2024 is planning a hybrid
virtual program:  The teacher will be Zooming in, and students have the option to attend the
seminar virtually from home or in a conference room at the DoubleTree in a group setting
(limited seating, available at registration).  Lessonface records each session which will be
available for 4 weeks following the seminars for those registered in the individual classes.
We will also have a Gallery and a Silent Auction this year. The proceeds from the auction go to
the CNCH grants.

We are excited to have a Marketplace during the entire conference with Eugene Textile Center,
Lunatic Fringe, and Dharma Trading Co. On Saturday, April 27, 2024, we have a Local Talent
Market in the Ballroom lobby. 10-12 vendors will be selling their weaving, and spinning items
for sale. Come for the day and visit both marketplaces, the gallery, silent auction. Entrance fee
for the day is $10.

Registration opens January 15, 2024. The conference keynote speaker, Susan Iverson, is giving
her talk at the Friday night banquet. Her presentation, Enduring Obsessions, is a perfect fit for
our conference and theme.
